The Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh for the kin of pilgrims martyred in the terror attack.

Srinagar: Disturbing visuals have emerged in the Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi terror attack, where a speeding jeep could be seen following the bus carrying pilgrims en route from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra.
The terror attack occurred on Sunday, June 9, when the terrorists as per survivors suddenly started firing. The deadly attack claimed the lives of 10 people and some 33 people have been reported to be seriously injured.

Following this incident, the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh for the kin of pilgrims martyred in the terror attack, while the injured would be given Rs. 50,000.
"An ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh to be given to the next of kin of pilgrims martyred in Reasi terror attack. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000. The injured pilgrims are being treated at different hospitals in Jammu & Reasi," the tweet by Office of LG J&K read.

Earlier, the Lt Governor said, "An unfortunate incident had happened yesterday evening when terrorists targeted the driver of a bus as a result of which he lost control and the vehicle plunged into a gorge resulting in the death of nine persons. A joint operation by police, CRPF and Army is underway to punish those responsible for the incident."
Following the incident, a massive cordon and search operation is underway to track down the terrorists responsible. Furthermore, two NIA teams have launched a parallel probe into the attack.

The Lt Governor added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah are keeping a close watch on the situation and spoke to him immediately after the attack.
"Those responsible will not be spared. The attack is part of a nefarious design to somehow spread turmoil to Jammu region but we are determined to thwart such an attempt," he said.

This comes as one of the NIA teams has already reached the district and is coordinating with local police probing the attack, while the other team is expected to reach the spot by afternoon.
