Vadodara: A gesture of apology by Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, the accused in the fatal car crash in Vadodara, has drawn responses on social media. Several images and videos of Rakshit are circulating on social media, where he can be seen holding his ears and seeking apology as he was brought at the accident spot to recreate the crime scene. According to the police, on Saturday, the Vadodara police brought Rakshit to the crime spot for scene recreation. In a video shared by news agency ANI, Rakshit appeared to be injured in his legs and can be seen limping. He also holds his ears as a gesture to apologise while he is taken back to the police van.

The gesture of apology has raised questions about its sincerity and timing. While some have expressed sympathy for the victim's family and appreciated Rakshit's apology, others have called for stricter punishment for the accused. The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of citizens on the roads and the need for stricter laws to prevent such tragedies.

Gesture of Remorse or Publicity Stunt?

The gesture of apology by Rakshit has been met with skepticism by some, who question its sincerity. "Is this a genuine apology or just a publicity stunt to gain sympathy?" asked a social media user. Others have expressed outrage, calling for stricter punishment for the accused. "An apology is not enough, he should be punished for his reckless behavior," said another user.

The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of citizens on the roads. "This incident highlights the need for stricter laws and enforcement to prevent drunk driving," said a road safety activist.

The incident in Vadodara has sparked widespread outrage. The police have arrested Rakshit and charged him with culpable homicide and other relevant sections of the law.

As the investigation into the incident continues, it is clear that the gesture of apology by Rakshit is only the beginning of a long road to justice. The incident has raised important questions about the safety of citizens on the roads and the need for stricter laws to prevent such tragedies.

Accused Claims Airbag Deployment Caused Accident

The deadly car accident in Vadodara on Holi has claimed the life of one woman and left eight others injured. The accused, 23-year-old law student Rakshit, claimed that the incident occurred due to the sudden deployment of airbags, which hampered his vision. According to Rakshit, the incident took place when he was driving at a speed of 50 km/hour and turned right, where there was a pothole on the road. He claimed that the car slightly touched another vehicle, causing the airbag to deploy suddenly, which hampered his vision and led to the accident.

Rakshit also denied being drunk at the time of the incident, stating that he had gone to ‘Holika Dahan' and was not partying. He acknowledged his role in the accident and expressed his desire to meet the victims' families. "I want to meet the family of the victims, it is my fault and whatever they want that should happen," he said.

Notably, the accident occurred around 12.30 am near Muktanand Cross Roads in the Karelibaug area. Rakshit's car hit a woman on a two-wheeler, then knocked down two other bikers. The airbags deployed due to the severe impact. Rakshit's friend, Chauhan, who was with him in the car, stepped out and walked away, claiming he had nothing to do with the accident.

Rakshit, however, was caught behaving erratically after the accident, shouting "another round," "uncle," and "Om Namah Shivay" at the top of his voice. The incident was captured on CCTV camera. The injured, including a child, have been hospitalised. Following the incident, Rakshit has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The police have taken Rakshit into custody and are investigating the incident. Chauhan's blood samples have also been taken, and if found intoxicated, he will be booked under the Prohibition Act.
