Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist wanted for attacks in J&K arrested by Delhi Police

A Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist wanted in a number of terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir has been arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell.

BREAKING: Days ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist wanted in a number of terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir has been arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell.

“Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist,” said an official. “The accused was wanted in a multiple terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir,” he further said.

According to Special CP HS Dhaliwal (Special Cell), the terrorist identified as Javed Ahmed Matoo and his last movement was detected at Delhi's Nizamuddin-DND area. 

Resident of North Kashmir's, Javed Matoo from the Baramulla district and the top Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, who was active for over one decade. Officials told Republic that he was a resident of Khushal area of Sopore and was active since 2010.

He was A++ category commander in the police records and exfiltrated to Pakistan to lead Hizbul Mujahideen from Pakistani soil . His movement was detected by central intelligence agencies near Indo Nepal border some days ago. He was operating under names of Musaib and Faisal.

During a press conference, Special CP HS Dhaliwal (Special Cell) said, “There was a major module of the Hizbul Mujahideen and he was leading it. He is the last surviving terrorist from the group living in Jammu and Kashmir.” The officer also revealed that Matoo was living a camouflaged life while playing a major role in cross-border weapons smuggling.
