Cyclone Fani has hit India's East coast on Friday morning with heavy rain and roaring winds. As the rains and strong winds are continuing across several parts of Odisha, severe damages to AIIMS Bhubaneswar have been reported. 

In a video clip posted by Press Information Bureau, the roof of the undergraduate hostel in AIIMS Bhubaneshwar is seen being blown off due to the effect of Cyclone Fani. Watch here:

Another video shows extensive damage to the structure of AIIMS Bhubaneswar due to Cyclone Fani. Many water tanks have blown off, lighting polls are down and air conditioners have suffered damages. The patients, students and other staff members are safe.

Meanwhile, BJP chief Amit Shah and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee have cancelled their election rallies in the wake of the Cyclone Fani. OVer 100 trains have either being cancelled or diverted in order to prevent any damages. Furthermore, flights have also been cancelled to and from Kolkata and Bhubaneswar airport. 

The press release by India Meteorological Department at 12:00 hours on May 3 says that at 11:30 hours the cyclone lay centred over coastal Odisha about 10 km east and 30 km south of Bhubaneswar.

The forecast says that the very severe cyclonic storm “Fani” is very likely to continue to move north-northeastwards and weaken further into a severe cyclonic storm during the next six hours.
