PM Modi showed the fusion video of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite bhajan to President Putin on his phone during the lunch ceremony hosted in New Delhi.

During the closing ceremony of the Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Conference (MGISC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Uma Bharti, launched a medley version of the bhajan 'Vaishnav Jan To', sung by artists from over 40 countries, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Gutierrez.

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Friday shared a video on Twitter in which PM Modi can be seen showing the ‘rendition of the favourite bhajan of Mahatma Gandhi ‘Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye’ by artistes from over 40 countries, including Russian artist Sati Kazanova, to Russian President Vladimir Putin. PM Modi showed the global rendition of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite bhajan to Putin on his phone during the lunch ceremony. Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj was also present at the same table.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day visit to India just ended after he departed to his country post his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Uma Bharti, launched the medley version of the bhajan, sung by artists from over 40 countries as it paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi. Videos from different countries in the world were clubbed together in a fusion bhajan video of about five minutes.

All Indian Missions abroad identified local artiste groups to record the bhajan who gave rise to an eclectic, colourful and rich rendition of the hymn infused with the local flavour of the region. Videos from different regions of the world have also been put together in the fusion video to give flavour to the bhajan.

During Putin's visit, India and Russia have signed eight deals including the S-400 Triumf Air Defence System deal during the Indo-Russia bilateral summit in Delhi.
