Bengaluru: On Friday early morning, May 31, as soon as Prajwal Revanna, the prime accused in the sex tape scandal in Karnataka landed at the Bengaluru airport, a posse of women policemen led by women IPS officers executed the arrest warrant against him in sexual assault cases.

As per a source quoted by PTI, the SIT team was led by a woman IPS officer to send out a symbolic message to the victims that women officers were not afraid of anyone.

"It was a conscious call to send all women officers to arrest Prajwal, sending home a message that the JD(S) leader exploited his seat and power as an MP with women. The same women have the authority to arrest him through all legal proceedings," the source in the SIT said.

The 33-year-old sitting MP from Hassan is seeking reelection as an NDA candidate, who fled to Munich shortly after the sex tape scandal came to light.

Here is How Prajwal's Arrest Unfolded:

• Prajwal Revanna was travelling in a private business class Lufthansa Flight LH-764 from Munich to Bengaluru and landed at Terminal 2 of the airport around 00:47 hours on Friday.
• Furthermore, the immigration commissioner handed over all sets of documents to Prajwal's lawyers and the SIT probing the case, had arrived at the airport around 11:45 PM on Thursday.
• The 33-year-old accused was taken into custody by the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) sleuths shortly after he arrived at the Bengaluru airport. After completing all his formalities with the immigration department, the arrested JDS leader was reportedly made to sign over 50 sheets of documents relating to his travel and past whereabouts.  
• After the entire process was over, the team of SIT officials will now interrogate Prajwal Revanna in connection with the allegations levelled against him.
