Winter School Holidays: Public and private schools in Haryana will remain closed till THIS date

Manohar Lal, the Chief Minister of Haryana, announced the winter break for all public and private schools in the state on his official Twitter account. According to the announcement, Haryana's public and private schools would all be closed from January 1 to January 15, 2024. Following the winter break, the Haryana schools are expected to reopen on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. In the notification, the CMO also stated, “You are requested to ensure compliance with the above in all the schools under you.”

The government is worried about the health and safety of the students because December 2023 is an extremely cold month in the country. The last few days have seen extreme cold waves across many regions. A winter break from December 26 to December 31, 2023, has also been announced by the Jharkhand government. 

In December 2023, a minimum temperature of 4 to 8 degrees was recorded in the northwest region of India. On the other hand, 6.6 degrees has been the lowest recorded temperature in the eastern regions of India. An extreme cold wave is expected to hit the northern and eastern regions of India during the course of the next five days, according to a notification issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
