Mumbai: In a latest update in the Worli Hit-And-Run Case, the Mumbai Police has issued a Lookout Circular (LoC) against the main accused.
Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah has been accused of ramming his BMW in a scooter, killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhva and injuring her husband Pradip Nakhva in Worli, Mumbai.
Mihir Shah, the main accused in the latest hit-and-run case has been on the run ever since the accident and several teams have been formed, to nab the politician's son.
In a latest update, a lookout notice, formally known as a Lookout Circular (LoC) has been issued against the Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah's son Mihir Shah.
As the name suggests, a Lookout Circular is issued during police investigation, to search for someone who is absconding but is required.
This is issued when the police suspects that the accused may try to flee the country to save themselves of being arrested.
"As there was a possibility of Mihir Shah fleeing the country, the Mumbai Police on Sunday evening issued an LOC against him," the official said.
A CCTV footage of the Shiv Sena leader's son and the accused, Mihir Shah (dressed in a black t-shirt), in the Worli hit-and-run case surfaced where he could be seen leaving a bar in Mumbai's Juhu area late on Saturday night. However, the car (Mercedes) in which Shah can be seen sitting is different from the car (BMW) involved in the accident.
Mihir Shah left the bar at around 1.45 am and headed towards Marine Drive and the accident happened in Worli early in the morning. The accident left a woman dead and her husband seriously injured.
The cops are suspecting that Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah's son, Mihir Shah who is the prime accused in the case and absconding, was helped by his girlfriend in hiding after the accident.
The girlfriend of the Shiv Sena leader's son has also been called for questioning by the cops.
The Mumbai Police has already made two arrests in the hit-and-run case. The Shiv Sena leader and father of the accused, Rajesh Shah and Raj Rishi Rajendra Singh Vidawat have been arrested; the two will be presented in court today.
According to sources, a fisherman and his wife were on the bike when this mishap took place at 5:30 in the morning near the Atria Mall.
The couple, who lived in the Worli Koliwada area, was returning after buying fish from the Sassoon Dock early morning when the car rammed into their bike, police said.
Such was the severity of the accident that the couple's two-wheeler overturned and threw both Pradip and Kaveri onto the bonnet of the car.
As per cops, while Pradip managed to jump off the bonnet, Kaveri ended up getting dragged for nearly two kilometres before getting flung on the road.
