As the historic inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya approaches on January 22, the Uttar Pradesh government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety of VIPs, invitees, and the newly consecrated temple. With concerns over the increasing number of visitors during the ceremony, the government contemplates the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in security operations.

Current Security Measures: To address immediate security needs, the government has already deployed 11,000 state police and paramilitary forces for the consecration ceremony. However, anticipating a surge in temple visitors post-inauguration, officials are actively exploring new technologies and measures to enhance security.

AI Integration for Enhanced Surveillance: A senior police officer revealed that AI surveillance is likely to become a crucial element in the overall security framework. The officer explained, “The threat perception of the Ram Temple is high. So, we need to keep a tight vigil on all movements in Ayodhya.” The proposed AI surveillance aims to detect patterns such as frequent visitors or suspicious activities within the temple premises. Any identified security risks would trigger an automatic alert for immediate follow-up by security agencies.

Existing Vigilance Measures: Ahead of the inauguration, both manual and social media vigilance are already in place in the red zone area surrounding the temple. Thirty-eight local officers are meticulously monitoring every movement in and around the temple to ensure preemptive action against potential security threats.

Recent Incidents and Verification Process: In a concerning development, two individuals threatening bomb blasts have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh. While the final security strategy is pending confirmation, the verification process has begun for individuals in the city, including hotel staff, taxi drivers, e-rickshaw drivers, residents, priests, and beggars around the temple. Simultaneously, guests and their staff are undergoing verification checks to prevent untoward incidents on the auspicious day of January 22.

With the countdown to the Ram Temple inauguration underway, the Uttar Pradesh government's meticulous approach to security showcases its commitment to safeguarding the historic site. The potential integration of AI in surveillance reflects a proactive stance to address evolving security challenges in the post-inauguration phase.
