To keep the bananas fresh for an extended period of time, wrap the end of the bunch of bananas with plastic wrap. It is better to separate each banana while wrapping. Beyond a certain degree of time, bananas release eithylene gas, thereby ripening the fruit quickly. This tactic will help keep the bananas fresh.

2. Keep potatoes fresh:

In order to keep your potatoes white and fresh, cover the diced parts with cold water. This will keep the vegetable from turning grayish brown.Due to the release of a starch that oxidizes the potato, dipping it in cold water will help.

3. Prevent brown sugar:

In order to prevent the brown sugar from hardening into rock-hard nuggets, toss an orange peel or an apple peel with a layer of sugar in an airtight jar. The mixture will be soaked, preventing the sugar from getting hard.

For a quick fix, you can microwave a teaspoon of brown sugar next to a glass of water. The moisture so released will help break up sugar blocks, helping them stay soft and fresh.

Another quick fix is squeezing a mixture of 1 part honey and 2 parts water on the apple slices. The peptide present in honey slows the oxidation process that causes browning.

5. Prevent roting of tomatoes:

To prevent the tomatoes from spoiling, store the stem ends in the fridge. Recent studies prove that this method of storage does not affect the taste or juiciness of tomatoes, keeping them fresh with an extended shelf life.

6.Remove excess fat:

To skim the fat from sticks, stews, and sauces, take a few ice cubes and wrap them in a paper tower along the surface. The ice cubes help the fat skim due to their solidifying characteristic, making them easier to remove with a spoon.
