Hima Das receives Young Achievers Award at Republic Achievers Awards 2019

Arjuna Award winner and the first Indian athlete to win gold at the IAAF U20 World Championships Hima Das has won the Young Achievers award at the Republic-Open Magazine Achievers Awards 2019. She was given the award by Republic TV's Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami. Since Hima Das was training in Turkey, her father Ranjit Das accepted the award in her place.

The Young Achievers Award category honours and celebrates the triumphant journeys of luminaries who have time and again made India proud on the global stage.

Other nominees included:

Neeraj Chopra - Athlete  

He represented India at the 2018 Asian Games where he won a gold medal, setting the national record of 88.06 m, and at the 2018 Commonwealth Games where he also won the gold medal.  

Prithvi Shaw - Cricketer  

A child prodigy Prithvi Shaw has centuries on debut in both Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy. He is also the youngest Indian to score a century on a Test debut.  

Kavya Kopparappu - Student  

A passionate non-profit leader, accomplished innovator, and student at Harvard University, Kavya Kopparappu is the founder and CEO of GirlsComputingLeague.  

Ritesh Agarwal - Founder and CEO – OYO Rooms  

The founder and CEO of the hospitality business and app- Oyo Hotels, Ritesh Agarwal is the owner of India’s latest ‘unicorn’. Valued at $5 billion, OYO is on its way to be the fifth largest chain of hotels globally.  

Deepinder Goyal - Founder and CEO – Zomato  

The demand for menu cards among his colleagues prompted Deepinder Goyal to conceive the idea of an online restaurant information service, known as the famous Zomato, today.  

Sriharsha Majety, Nandan Reddy, Rahul Jaimini – Co-founders - Swiggy  

Inspired by the thought of providing a complete food ordering and delivery solution, the trio came up with Swiggy, the hyperlocal delivery business catering to the food order and delivery space.  

Zaira Wasim - Actor  

Zaira made her acting debut with the biographical sports drama Dangal and followed with a starring role in the musical drama Secret Superstar. For her portrayal of an Indian sportswoman she won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
