Creating your own natural, smudge-free kajal at home is easier than you think. This quick 10-minute recipe provides a chemical-free alternative to store-bought products, ensuring you know exactly what’s going into your makeup.
Ingredients
2 teaspoons of almond oil
2 teaspoons of castor oil
A small piece of camphor
1 teaspoon of ghee (clarified butter)
Cotton wick
Small metal or clay bowl
Method
Prepare the ingredients: Begin by mixing the almond oil and castor oil in a small bowl. These oils are known for their nourishing properties and will serve as the base for your kajal.
Set up the wick: Place a cotton wick in the mixture and let it soak thoroughly. This wick will be used to create the soot needed for the kajal.
Light the wick: Once soaked, light the cotton wick. Position the small metal or clay bowl above the flame, ensuring it collects the soot. Be cautious and ensure the setup is stable to avoid any accidents.
Collect the soot: Allow the wick to burn completely, collecting soot on the underside of the bowl. This process usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
Mix the soot: Once enough soot has accumulated, extinguish the flame and carefully scrape the soot into a clean container. Add the ghee and mix thoroughly to form a smooth paste.
Cool and store: Let the mixture cool before transferring it to a small, airtight container. Your natural kajal is now ready to use.
