Bernardine Evaristo is a fictional writer from Britain. She also written short fiction, drama, poetry, essays, literary criticism, and has also worked on projects for stage and radio. She is an award-winning writer of eight books along. Her writings are inspired by Bernardine’s key interest in the African diaspora. She is currently teaching creative writing at Brunel University London. Here are some of Bernardine Evaristo books that one must read:

Bernardine Evaristo’s books

Girl, Woman, Other

Girl, Woman, Other is a ‘fusion fictional’ novel written by Bernardine Evaristo. The book was published in May 2019. It talks about 12 characters from Britain, predominantly female and black. Aged between 19 to 93, they come from different cultural backgrounds, sexualities, classes, and occupations as they tell the stories of themselves, their families, friends and lovers, across the country, through the years. Girl, Woman, Other received an award at the Booker price 2019. The award was also shared with Margaret Atwood. It is suggested to every person who wishes to learn about feminism.

Mr Loverman

This book is a novel about a closet gay septuagenarian Antiguan-Londoner. Mr Loverman is the story of Britain’s older Caribbean community. The book talks about cultural myths and fallacies and shows what can happen when people fear the consequences of being true to themselves. The gay fiction book was released and published in 2013. If you are a history fan, Mr Loverman is a must-read.

Blonde Roots

Blonde Roots is a prose novel about Africans enslavers. The book is said to be a sarcastic take on slavery in which Africans are the masters and Europeans are their slaves. The story revolves around a white woman from Europe who tries to escape slavery in the United Kingdom. Blonde Roots was released in 2008.
