The various types of sarees in Rajasthan are as colourful as the cities of this state. Not only the sarees but also the style of draping is quite famous – all of it is indeed unique and mesmerizing. The local markets are flooded with exclusive local sarees that women of all ages crave for. Here are a few types of sarees from the state. 

Bandhani

Bandhani sarees derive their name from the method of tying it to produce the dots. Woven using a tie and dye method, the bandhani sarees portray beautiful patterns and designs. These colour-coordinated sarees are available in different fabrics, including cotton, silk, and chiffon. The desired pattern can be produced in the sarees.

Leheriya

'Lehriya' - the name of the saree is inspired by its design that symbolises waves. The seemingly complex pattern of the waves pleases the aesthetics. They follow a tie and dye technique too. These sarees are available in both thin silk and cotton and are ideal for the summer season. The soft fabric feels light and comfortable, and the vibrant colours add to the glam factor. The soft glitters make a fashion statement.

Gharchola

This is one of those sarees that is largely popular with both Gujarati and Rajasthani brides. The bright colours and zari work is adored by the new brides. Though the name translates to home-wear, these are exclusive bridal wear sarees with a hint of bandhani pattern.

Gota Patti

Gota Patti, in essence, refers to the design work on the sarees. Unlike the other types of Rajasthani sarees that are summery and casual, Gota Patti looks bold and beautiful. They exhibit bright strips of gold and silver design work that catch the eye instantly. The technique of Gota work is used on both, Bandhani and Leheriya, sarees.
