Shardiya Navratri 2024: Dates, Rituals, Colours And Shubh Muhurat
This year Navratri festival will commence on October 3 and continue for the following nine days worshipping the nine avatars of Goddess Durga.
Shardiya Navratri is also known as Maha Navratri , it is one of the biggest festivals of the Hindus of all Navratris. This year the festival will commence on October 3, 2024 and continue for the following nine days worshipping the nine avatars of Goddess Durga. The nine-day festival will culminate with the Dussehra festival on the tenth day which falls on October 12, 2024.
Rituals
Women especially in Maharastra and Gujarat adorn themselves in nine different colours allocated to nine different days. According to Drik Panchang, “The colour of the day is decided on the weekday. Each weekday is ruled by one of the planets or Navgrahas and accordingly, colours are assigned to each day.”
Indian festivals without sweets would be incomplete, for Shardiya Navratri there are nine different types of sweets for each Goddess.

October 4: Green
October 5: Grey
October 6: Orange
October 7: White
October 8: Red
October 9: Royal Blue
October 10: Pink
October 11: Purple
Shubh Muhurat
October 3, 2024: Ashwin Ghatasthapana starts at 6:15 am and ends at 7:22 am; Ghatasthapana Abhijit Muhurta starts at 11:46 am and ends at 12:33 pm.
October 11, 2024: Sandhi Puja of Durga Ashtami starts at 11:42 am and ends at 12:30 pm.
