PM Narendra Modi Recommends These Yoga Asanas For Improved Functionality

Bhadrasana and Padahastasana are recommended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for improvement in people's functional health.

Ahead of International Yoga Day 2024, which is slated to be celebrated on June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares the yoga asanas for improvement in people's functional health like Bhadra asana.

The International Day of Yoga is a day in recognition of Yoga, following its adoption by the United Nations in 2014. This years' theme for commemorating this ancient Hindu practice is Yoga  For Women Empowerment.

Modi's recommended yoga asanas

Bhadra Asana: PM Narendra Modi tweeted," Bhadrasana is good for strengthening the joints and reduces pain in the knees. It is also good for the stomach."

Method to practise Bhadrasana:

Sit with your legs extended in front of you.
Bend your knees and bring your feet together, soles touching.
Pull your feet towards your pelvis and hold your toes with your hands.
Keep your spine straight and relax your shoulders.

Benefits:

Enhances flexibility in the hips and groin.
Strengthens the pelvic region.
Improves posture and concentration.
Relieves tension and stress.

Padahastasana (Hand Under Foot Pose):

"Padahastasana has several benefits…do practice it," he mentioned. This asana is known to be useful for people during menstrual cycle or among those with a higher risk of heat-related diseases.

Way to perform Padahastasana:

Stand straight with feet hip-width apart.
Inhale deeply and stretch your arms overhead.
Exhale and bend forward from the hips, keeping your back straight.
Place your palms under your feet, if possible.
Hold the pose, breathing deeply and evenly.

Benefits:

Stretches the hamstrings, calves, and back.
Stimulates the digestive organs.
Reduces fatigue and anxiety.
Improves blood circulation and balance.
