The Conjuring (2013)

The Conjuring has to be the top movie in this genre and rightly so. The story is based on the story of the real-life couple team (Edward and Lorraine Warren) who worked as paranormal investigators. Both Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga do a brilliant job in portraying the Warrens. The plotline starts with an investigation of paranormal activity at a house where a new family had just shifted and were experiencing some weird sounds and occurrences in the house. The Conjuring series has two movies as of now (third part to be released in 2020), and three spinoffs — Anabelle series, The Nun series and The Curse of La Llorona.

Paranormal Activity (2007)

The movie Paranormal Activity was widely appreciated for its unique found footage-styled filming and revolves around a young couple who set up cameras in their house to document any supernatural presence in the house.
