Halwas that are quick to cook and will satiate your sweet cravings

Many foodies love to have halwa during the winter season. Atte ka Halwa and Mong-daal halwa are popular in the north-India. They taste delicious and so are the other variations like Sooji Halwa, Gajar Halwa and many more. So if you are in a mood to eat a halwa, here are a few easy to prepare halwas that also tastes delicious.

Sooji Halwa

Sooji Halwa is specially prepared during the Kanjak Pooja or after worshipping as prasad. This sweet dish is very easy to cook. You can easily prepare this within minutes. All you have to do is add 2 tablespoons of ghee in the pan and mix a cup of rava/sooji in the hot ghee. Roast sooji until it gets golden. After it changes the colour you can either mix around 2 cups of water or milk according to your taste. Once the roasted sooji absorbs all the water/milk in it, mix sugar according to your taste. If you have dry fruits mix them too. Remember one thing keep the gas flame either medium or low but not high. In case you are making it with water, fry some papad as well to have it along.

Atta Halwa

Wheat flour is the only thing that you need to change; otherwise, it is as same as sooji halwa to prepare. Just follow the same steps of sooji halwa preparation and you can treat yourself with a sweet dish within minutes. Many Marvadi's prefers to have it along with papad as they both balance the taste of sweet and spicy.

Besan Halwa 

This sweet confection is usually prepared on festivals like Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Janmashtami among others. This Besan aka gram flour halwa is quick to cook for your sweet cravings. Boil the water with sugar, and cardamom powder in a saucepan over low medium heat. Melt the clarified butter in a frying pan on low medium flame. Add besan and roast to golden brown colour; keep stirring it for about 5 to 8 minutes. As soon as besan turns golden brown, add the syrup boiled with sugar and cardamom powder slowly. After adding syrup turn down the heat to low and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes. Turn off the burner once it absorbs all the water.
