Vikas Khanna: The celebrated Indian chef who made India proud globally

Vikas Khanna is one of the most celebrated chef's in the country and a famous cookbook writer. Here are some of the proud times when he made India proud.

It is celebrity chef Vikas Khanna's birthday today, November 14. Khanna has a television show, has written 28 books including A Tree named Ganga, a children fiction book. Vikas Khanna has represented many India in so many international platforms. On the occasion of his birthday, here are a few times when Vikas Khanna has made India proud.

Michelin Star:

Vikas Khanna is a Michelin star chef. He has his restaurant in New York named Junoon which is popular. Junoon was one of the first Indian restaurants of the world to be awarded a star by the Michelin Guide. What has made Khanna's restaurant even more outstanding is the fact that it has held Michelin Star restaurant status for six consecutive years, without letting its standards drop.

Working with Gordan Ramsay:

Khanna first met Gordan Ramsay in 2007 and they have been working together since then. Khanna appeared in the second episode of Kitchen Nightmares Season One as a mentor chef, and later in Hell's Kitchen Season Six--both TV series run by Ramsay. Khanna also collaborated with Ramsay during the formation months of MasterChef America and Gordon Ramsay's Great Escape.

Guest Judge at Masterchef:

Khanna appeared as a guest judge on the show during Season Six, where he brought one of his most difficult dishes to test the contestants. Making Khanna's Rose Tea Smoked Chicken Tikka Masala really put pressure on the contestants, proving to the world that Indian cuisine has the finesse which even the best amateur chefs in the world find it difficult to nail.

Cooking in White House:

Not every chef in the whole world got the chance to cook in the White House for the President of US and the First Lady Michelle Obama. Khanna was so lucky that he has been called not ones in fact twice to cook for the Obama’s. First time Khanna prepared a very special sattvic meal for the then POTUS and on the second time he served Himalayan cuisine.
