Winter food that will help to keep your body warm and in shape

Nothing can be worse for health than winter if proper care is not taken, here are some winter food to include in your diet to increase metabolism

As the winter grows it affects our metabolism process and we end up eating less. Low energy levels make cooking and other tasks harder as well. Hence, we can eat other products that help us to stay warm.

Dry Fruits

Add nuts like almonds, walnuts, and pistachios to your breakfast. Almonds contain various antioxidants that counter the signs of ageing on your skin. To give a twist to your normal cereal or warm milk with Dalia (porridge) or oats, try and add dried fruits like apricots, raisins, and figs.

Pepper, Fenugreek, and Hing

Some of the common spices that can help you stay in shape and make any meal a delicious meal are mustard, asafoetida (Hing), black pepper, fenugreek, cumin seeds, and dill seeds. You should also include hers like Rosemary, Oregano and Stinging Nettle leaf.

Tulsi and ginger

In Indian tradition, Ayurveda has denoted Tulsi as the holy basil due to its multiple benefits. Tulsi has anti-bacterial, anti-biotic, and anti-viral properties that help in keeping the body healthy. On the other hand, ginger mixed with honey and black pepper is an excellent reliever of breathing-related allergies.

Root vegetables and leafy greens

Carrots, onions, spinach, green beans, amaranth are some of the varieties that can help you stay both healthy and warm this winter. These foods are loaded with rich sources of nutrients like beta-carotene and vitamin C. Adding them to your dals, vegetables, and soups can benefit you with an assortment of food that compliments your fitness routine. Spinach, in fact, is high in iron and can help you counter anaemia and adds colour to your pale skin.

Chia seeds

Chia seeds provide you with two essential fatty acids that are omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid, and omega-6 linolenic acid which contain anti-inflammatory powers. Your body needs essential fatty acids for good health. However, the body cannot produce them, so chia seeds need to be consumed.
