During pregnancy, doctors suggest that a balanced diet plays a very important role in providing nutrition to the baby. ‘Eating for two’ is a famous phrase that is advised and followed during pregnancy. It doesn’t mean you need to overeat, but a healthy diet plays a very essential role in the growth of the baby and mother. Doctors advise to avoid empty calories during pregnancy, and they stress on including fruits and vegetables in your diet. Fruits and vegetables provide you with the required amount of nutrients for the baby, especially fruits that are rich in some of the key essential nutrients like Vitamin C and Vitamin B. Here are ten essential fruits you should eat during pregnancy.

· Orange

Oranges help in keeping the body hydrated. They are a high source of folate. Folate helps in preventing brain and spinal cord defects. Orange is also a great source of Vitamin C, which helps the body to gain iron.

· Mango

Mangoes are huge source of Vitamin A and C. One bowl of mangoes is equal to the total RDA of Vitamin C and more than a third of the RDA of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for the baby as deficiency of Vitamin A leads to lower immunity and a higher risk of complications. Vitamin A deficiency also causes respiratory infections.

· Pear

Pears provide plenty of fiber, which helps with problems like constipation, a common pregnancy symptom. It is rich in nutrients like fiber, potassium, and folate. Potassium improves heart health for both the mother and the baby. It also stimulates cell regeneration.

· Avocado

Avocados are rich in healthy fats that provide energy and help in preventing neural tube effects. Avocados boost the cells responsible for building the skin and brain tissues of the developing baby. They are an excellent source of Vitamin C, E, and K. Also, they are rich in potassium and copper. Leg cramps, another common symptom in pregnancy, can be relieved by adequate quantities of potassium.

Guava contains a varied combination of nutrients, making it the most suitable fruit for pregnant women. Guava contains Vitamins C and E, polyphenols, and folate. It helps in relaxing muscles, aiding digestion, and reducing constipation.

· Pomegranate

Pomegranates are a huge source of Vitamin K, calcium, protein, and fiber. Nutrient-dense pomegranates are also a good source of energy. It helps in preventing iron deficiency. Pomegranate juice helps in decreasing the risk of injury to the placenta.

· Banana

Bananas have a high fiber content, which helps in pregnancy-related constipation, and doctors suggest that Vitamin B6 can help relieve nausea and vomiting. Bananas are also rich in potassium and Vitamin C. Also, bananas have high levels of potassium.

Apples help in reducing the risk of asthma and allergies over time in the baby. Vitamin A is packed with nutrients to help a growing fetus including Vitamins A and C, fiber, and potassium.
