Speciality: Banarasi Brocade

Varanasi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh which dates back to the 11th century B.C. A city which is regarded as the spiritual capital of India has a rich history of textile designing. The weavers here are quite popular for their work of brocade weaving which is their speciality and are known to churn out one of the finest fabrics that one can buy. Speaking of the origin, the one can observe the Moghul influence in their designs, which often depicts floral pattern and hunting scenes.

2. Gujarat

Speciality: Bandhani

Gujarat is known for its handicrafts and prides itself for the embroideries that really stand out. But the place is most famous for the classy thread work that goes into the constructions. The Zari industry of Surat and the Kathi embroidery of Kutch are classic examples of thread works and are one of the old handicrafts.

Bandhani, a ‘tie and dye’ technique is an ancient art and yet another speciality of Gujarat. Speciality: Kanjivaram Silk

Kanchipuram or Kanjivaram silk sarees are traditionally woven silk from a region called Kanchipuram in the state of Tamil Nadu. These sarees are worn as bridal and special occasion sarees by most women in several parts of the country, whereas women in south India mostly prefer to wear them irrespective of the occasion and there is a huge variety to choose from.
