As soon as you hear about Himachal, the pictures of beautiful snow and land run in front of your eyes. Himachal Pradesh is located in the western Himalayas. The state is known for its natural beauty where mountains are mostly wrapped with glaciers. When travelling to Himachal Pradesh, these are the top five places that are a must-visit.

Kullu

Kullu is famous for Greater Himalayan Rangers. Kullu is well known for its natural beauty, hill stations and temples. The major attractions at Kullu are Bijli Mahadeva Temple, Raghunath Temple, Kasol, Parvati Valley among others. Ideally one should spend at least one or two days in Kullu. The place is populated with tourists throughout the year. Earlier the place was called as Kulanthpitha which means 'the end of the habitable world.' Kullu valley is popularly known as Valley of Gods'.

Manali

Manali is famous for adventure sports. The major attractions include Hidimba Devi Temple, Rohtang Pass, Solang Valley etc. Manali is located at an altitude of 6,726 feet. Manali is known for its spectacular snow-capped mountains. The nearest airport here is Chandigarh airport.

Shimla

The British declared the land of Shimla as their summer capital because of its beauty. The colonial influence in the city is still noticeable. The hill station is not only popular for its snow-capped mountains but also for its greenery and lakes. The temperature in winter goes below zero degrees at times and yet the places is a tourist attraction all year long. Shimla is famous for Mall Road, The Ridge, Jakhoo hill, etc.

Dharamshala

The place is very famous for its cricket stadium. The Dharamshala stadium is known as India's most beautiful cricket stadium. Dharamshala is also famous for Tibetan culture, the monasteries out here are unmissable. Dharamshala airport is located 13 kms from the city and has good connectivity from all metro cities. 

Kasauli

Kasauli is located at an altitude of 1927 metres. The colonial influence is reflected here as well. The place is famous for hill stations, British colonial period. The attraction points here include Kasauli Brewery, Sunset Point etc. The nearest airport is Chandigarh airport. From Chandigarh, it takes about 1 hr 51 mins road trip to get here.
