Jaipur is the capital city of the state of Rajasthan; it is also the largest in area. The Jaipur city is famous for a variety of reasons, be its stunning locales, flavourful Rajasthani cuisine or beautiful markets. You can do a number of things when in the Pink city. Visit Hawa Mahal

The word Hawa means wind and Mahal means a palace. Hence, Hawa Mahal basically means the Palace of Winds. It is also called such because of the presence of 953 small windows within the palace. These windows provide exceptional cross-ventilation within the palace. The Hawa Mahal was constructed for women of the royal families. It was built in the year 1799 by Rajput Sawai Pratap Singh and has great historical significance attached to it. A must visit monument for those travelling to Jaipur.

Gorge on some delicious Dal-Bati-Churma

Jaipur is famous for offering Dal-Bati-Churma. It is the most popular delicacy of the traditional Rajasthani cuisine, which has three dishes eaten together in one go. One can visit the Dal Bati Churma restaurant located at Amer Road, to enjoy the rich delicacy.

Visit Chokhi Dhani

Your trip to the city will be incomplete if you do not visit this place. It is located at 12th Mile, Via Vatika, Tonk Road. Chokhi Dhani is a sort of an amusement park, with a twist. The makers of Chokhi Dhani have successfully transformed the place into a massive ethnic village. It has all sorts of activities from camel rides, a haunted house to folk performances. One can also try traditional Rajasthani thali at Chokhi Dhani.  The hotel facility is also available for those who wish to stay in the same vicinity overnight. Best time to visit the place is during the night, with stunning lights everywhere.

You can get an array of items to shop for in these markets from mojris (footwear) to bandhani suits and lehengas. Do not forget to get a customised lakh kada (bangle) made in any of these markets. Jaipur is quintessentially a shopper’s paradise. One can easily get almost anything and everything at affordable prices, without compromising at the quality of the product.
