Mumbai Based Couple Got Hitched In India's First Cruise Service 'Angriya'

Indian wedding is no less than a full-fledged festival when it comes to grandeur and glory, and the celebration has now found a new destination- cruise. The concept of cruise weddings is finally introduced in the country, and in one of the initial instances recorded, Captain of the country's first cruise service, 'Angriya' has solemnized a marriage onboard on Saturday, October 20. The first couple to tie the knot in the cruise was Prabir and Sayali Correa.

The Mumbai based couple got hitched in 'Angriya' on October 20 and abiding by the laws their marriage was solemnized by the captain of the ship, Irwin Sequeira. Captain Sequeira, who has more than 15 years of experience in sailing and has steered more than 60 ships in his career, told ANI that he has a right to solemnize a marriage. Later, the couple submitted the paperwork in Mumbai High Court.

Talking about their experience of getting married on board, the bride and the groom, Prabir and Sayali Correa said, that they feel lucky to get hitched on India's first cruise. 

"Captain has right to solemnise marriage and later on give evidence in court that they are married on the sea. I feel happy that on India's first cruise I got this chance," ANI quoted the groom Prabir as saying. 

Expressing happiness on being married on board the cruise liner, the bride, Sayali Correa, reportedly said: "It's extremely unique. I am honoured to get married onboard in India's first cruise. It was a dreamy moment for me. This was something I didn't expect. For the very first time, I am sailing on the cruise."

India's first cruise service 'Angriya' was launched on October 20. The service will be currently available from Mumbai to Goa and will run four times a week, except during monsoons. As per media reports, the cruise has six decks and 104 cabins and it can ferry about 400 passengers at a time. Reportedly, the price of the one-way ticket will range between Rs 7,000 and Rs 12,000. 

Beside this, Wedding Tourism is also a growing trend in the country. The growing interest of foreign tourist in Indian rituals and traditions have triggered the new tourism concept which Indian families invite foreign tourists to attend their weddings, as they prey a certain price for it.
