Excessive drinking comes with a price, but definitely, it's not as much as one particular British couple had paid for. A London based newlywed couple, Gina Lyons and Mark Lee who went to Sri Lanka for their honeymoon bought an entire hotel in the country after getting drunk.

The pair who took up wedding vows in June last year was enjoying their honeymoon to Sri Lanka when they suddenly came up with the idea to purchase the hotel they were staying at. As per media reports, Gina and Mark were down with 12 glasses of rum, during their first night there, when they decided to take up the lease of the rustic hotel, which was soon set to expire. It cost them around 30,000 pounds which is over Rs. 29 lakhs in Indian currency.

Reportedly, in an interview, Gina explained that they were on the beach drinking rum when they were informed that the lease was almost up for the hotel, and after finding out that it was 10,000 pounds a year, the couple who were too drunk to think anything sensibly decided that it would be a brilliant idea to buy it. Moreover, the couple had the necessary discussion and finalised the deal in there tipsy state.

Again on the next day, they had a meeting with an old couple who they needed to speak to about renewing the lease. The couple who were still drinking and was high on alcohol didn't understand most of the conversation and agreed to 30,000 pounds for the three year lease and pay 15,000 pounds in the first year and the other half by March 2019. With all the paperwork done, Mark and Gina became official owners of the hotel on July 1, and the couple who refuses to regret their decision renamed it 'Lucky Beach Tangalle'.

However, despite the fact that the investment turned out profitable for them, with a regular inflow of customers, as per media reports, the friends and family of the couple still think they are fools to take such a decision in a drunk state.

In a recent Facebook post referring to their drunk investment, they joked: "People can't get enough of our drunken antics. What should we buy next? (We can't, were poor.)"
