Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address top military commanders in Jodhpur on September 28, the eve of the surgical strike anniversary. This is one address that not just the Indian military will be looking forward to but also the Pakistani and Chinese besides of course the global powers. While the conference is held every year, the significance of this time is the date, September 28.

The government is expected to celebrate September 29 as a major achievement since it is the first publicly accepted surgical strike that any government has ordered against Pakistan. Prime Minister Modi will not only review the security preparedness but also outline his vision for the military.

Every word that he will speak would be closely heard and analyzed and hence this would be an opportunity for him to address the military and outline his agenda as it is the last one before the general elections slated for next year.

The choice of the venue is also significant since it is in Jodhpur. While Jodhpur administratively comes under the 12 Corps, the area comes under the operational zone of the 21 Strike Corps which is tasked with making quick ingress into Pakistan. It's a strategically-critical airbase and also where Raksha Mantri Nirmala Sitaraman flew in a Sukhoi.
