Exclusive/ Karnataka govt orders CID probe against sitting minister in BJP worker suicide case

Responding to Republic's big newsbreak, Karnataka government agreed for a CID investigation into the suicide case of BJP worker Shivakumar.

The Karnataka government on Thursday agreed for a Crime Investigation Department (CID) investigation into the suicide case of BJP worker Shivakumar. The Siddaramaiah-led government’s decision came after Republic Kannada broke the audio message tapes of Shivakumar blaming sitting minister Sharaprakash Patil for his suicide. 

According to sources, Minister Sharanprakash Patil will be probed by the CID over the audio message in which Shivakumar alleged that the sitting minister was responsible for his suicide.

As per the audio tapes accessed by Republic Kannada, the BJP worker who committed suicide, was heard saying that Hindus are not safe in Karnataka. He was further heard saying that Hindu activists are on the state government’s target. Meanwhile, it has also been learnt that the victim and his family members were allegedly beaten by Congress workers.

Shivakumar, the victim, committed suicide a day after his father-in-law was attacked. It was also alleged that on approaching the police, they refused to take any action against the culprits.

Republic confronts accused minister 

Upon accessing the exclusive audio tapes that revealed that alleged reason behind the BJP leader’s suicide, Republic Kannada confronted the accused minister and questioned him over Shivakumar’s allegations.

Speaking to Republic, the accused minister said that he has no clue about the BJP leader who committed suicide.
