New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Sunday hit out at senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on Ram Temple movement. Training guns on the Congress MP, Poonawalla said, “Rahul Gandhi's Hindu boycott and Hindu hatred has reached its peak.”

While referring to Congress Lok Sabha seat tally (99), Poonawalla said, "They have got 99 seats and it has taken to his ego."

Rahul Gandhi had on Saturday said that the INDI Alliance ruined the Ram temple movement by defeating the BJP in Ayodhya, adding that the saffron party would meet the same fate in Gujarat in the next election. The MP had alleged that the Congress had been challenged and threatened by the BJP, but it would defeat the saffron party and PM Narendra Modi in Gujarat just the way it was defeated in Ayodhya.

"By defeating BJP in Ayodhya, INDI bloc has defeated the Ram Mandir movement that was launched by the BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani. What I am saying is something very big... Congress party and INDI bloc defeated them in Ayodhya," the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said while addressing party workers in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

While referring to Rahul's statement, the BJP leader said, "He (Rahul) has said that the movement started by Advani ji in Ayodhya was defeated by the congress government. First of all, you might have won Firozabad seat, but BJP led in Ayodhya. First Rahul termed Hindus as violent. Then, KC Venugopal mentioned that Godse learnt violence from the Gita. And now, Rahul says that the struggle movement was defeated by the Congress government in Ayodhya. Before this, Firozabad's MP was compared to Shri Ram."

The BJP spokesperson also claimed "Congress has a long history of Hindu hatred." He added, "He (Rahul Gandhi) means that the struggle movement for 500 years was finished by the Congress?"

He added that such mindset indicates that Rahul Gandhi is against Lord Ram as well. "This means he is against the Ram Temple as well as Lord Ram. This shows their actual mindset," he added.
