New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi , speaking at Republic TV's plenary summit today, said that while traditional Naxalism is on the decline, a new challenge has emerged in the form of "Urban Naxals," who have infiltrated political parties that were once closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi.
"Earlier, over 100 districts were affected by Naxalism, but now it has been reduced to fewer than two dozen districts. This has been possible only because we worked with a Nation First approach," PM Modi said.
Urban Naxals Expanding Their Network
The Prime Minister highlighted that while decisive government actions have weakened Naxal activity in rural areas, its influence is now spreading in urban centers.
"With decisive government actions, Naxalism is being wiped out from the jungles, but now it is spreading its roots in urban centers. Urban Naxals have rapidly expanded their network," he said.
