Debate With Arnab: A 3-member inquiry panel has been set up to probe the Justice Varma case. But the question is, will an in-house inquiry be enough? There are numerous cases from the past where Judges accused of corruption going on to get promotion in their career. In fact, some of them even contested elections eventually. With history suggesting everything for the public to develop reasonable suspicion over how accusations against Judges are handled, is it not justified to demand transparency in probe and reduce opacity in the appointment of Judges? With demands for a transparent investigations rising, would a CBI probe be the step in the right direction to restore public faith in judiciary, given that the loss of public faith in the country’s justice system would be worrisome.
