The draw ceremony for the BWF World Championship 2022 was conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday.

The process was completed through computer system with the order of mixed doubles, women's doubles, men's doubles, women's singles and men's singles.

Top seed of men's singles, World No.1 Viktor Axelsen from Denmark will face Daren Liew of Malaysia in the first round.

2021 edition's champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore kicks off his defending trip by facing Spanish shuttler Pablo Abian Vicen,  who was the men's singles gold medalists at the 2015 European Games, 2018 and 2022 Mediterranean Games.

Top seed and defending champion of women's singles Akane Yamaguchi has a uneasy draw as she will face Olympic champion and former world Champion Carolina Marin of Spain or Chinese star He Bingjiao if she reaches the quarter-finals.

The 2022 BWF World Championships (officially known as the TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2022 for sponsorship reasons) is a badminton tournament which will be held from 22 to 28 August 2022 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.

Over 380 players from 48 nations will compete in this biggest individual event of badminton sport.
