World Champion P.V Sindhu on Tuesday said that it is essential that the coaches at the highest level in badminton to be more qualified for the job in order to create more champions. She also mentioned about her longtime training under Dronacharya awardee Pullela Gopichand and said that there are coaches from abroad as well to help but qualified national coaches can help train more players better.

 "Gopi Sir himself has been a great player and a great coach. There are other coaches now from abroad. They have been of lot of help. But national coaches need to be much qualified, then definitely they can train more players and they will become champions.  There needs to be high level coaches, where they need to know everything about badminton to create a champion," 

She also emphasised on the fact that coaches are very important and stated "Coaches role also has been important. My first coach was Mehboob Ali and then I have been under Gopi sir since I was 10. In badminton, you need to have a strong mindset." National coach Pullela Gopichand had also recently said that India has not "invested enough in coaches".

Need to find a new strategy every time, says PV Sindhu

Adding to her statements, the ace shuttler spoke about her improvements in defensive skills with the help of Korean coach Kim Ji Hyun, who has trained her for the last couple of months. The result was for everyone to see when she clinched gold at the recently-concluded BWF World Championships, becoming the first Indian shuttler to do so. Sindhu further stated that she is enjoying every bit of the much-deserved fanfare she is getting and realizes she has been marked by her opponents now and the pressure has increased. She asserted that she has to find a new strategy every time she goes to the court adding that the Olympics is still one year away. She will be flying to Changzhou soon to take part in the China Open which begins on September 17 and then she will be playing in Korea Open World Tour Super 500 starting from September 24.

PV Sindhu aims for gold in Tokyo 2020

World Champion PV Sindhu has already set her sight firmly on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and believes that the preparation for the big event has already begun. The BWF World Champion on the sidelines of the PNB MetLife Junior Badminton tournament laid out her roadmap for the upcoming Olympics and detailed on her mission seeking a Gold medal for India in badminton. She also said the tournaments were a boost for her confidence. PV Sindhu said that she was not particularly worried about the ranking as she was winning Super Series and other tournaments which ensured that she grew in terms of ranking.
