The reputed global magazine Forbes recently released their 'Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2019' list recently and Indian badminton superstar and world champion, PV Sindhu is the only athlete from the country in the list. The list is topped by American tennis superstar, Serena Williams as expected yet again. Sindhu is also the only badminton player in the list that is majorly dominated by tennis superstars. Interestingly, Sindhu's earnings are the same as the American tennis player, Madison Keys.

Sindhu, the 13th highest-paid female athlete in the world

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu made a total of 5.5 million dollars in earnings, prompting Forbes to call her 'India's most marketable female athlete.' Sindhu has become a sports icon in India after her appearances in the Rio Olympics 2016 final against Carolina Marin and the BWF World Championships this year, winning the latter. American women's soccer star Alex Morgan is ranked one place ahead in the list as she has earned only $300,000 more than the Indian. Remarkably, Sindhu has earned $5 million in endorsements solely and just $500,000 in prize money.

This is the largest payout in the history of men's or women's tennis.
