Saina Nehwal: Denmark Open and other first-round exits of the shuttler

We look at the first-round exits in the career of Saina Nehwal after she exited Denmark Open in the 1st round, her fourth for the calendar-year and 24th overall

Saina Nehwal crashed out of the Denmark Open on October 16, when she lost to Sayaka Takahashi in straight games with a score of 21-15, 25-21. This was the 4th first-round loss for the 29-year-old which summed up her forgettable 2019. We look at the first-round exits in the career of Sania Nehwal so far.

European events:

In 2007 she also exited the Swiss Open in the first round. Coming to the UK, where Nehwal has three first-round exits at the All England Open in 2008, 2009 and 2018 editions. Last year, she lost to Tai Tzu Ying in straight games.

Asian events:

Nehwal has six first-round exits in China Open with her losses coming in 2007, 2008, 20011, 2016, 2018 and 2019. This year she lost to B Ongnamrungphan by a score of 21-10 and 21-17. Shifting base to Hong Kong, Nehwal exited the tournament in the first round in 2007, 2009 and 2018. Moving to Japan, she has two early first-round exits in her career coming in 2008 and 2009. Earlier this year she lost to Kim Ga-eun in the Korea Open, where she had to retire in the third game through injury. Back to home, she has one early exit in the India Open, which occurred back in 2011. For the last three years, she got eliminated in the first round of the Malaysia Open
