Saina Nehwal: Take a look at Indian shuttler's off-court interests

Saina Nehwal is seen as one of the most dedicated and celebrated badminton players of the country. In her biography titled Badminton Queen of India Saina Nehwal, she has listed many of her favourite things to do outside of the badminton court. After training sessions, in-between professional commitments and when not winning championships, here are some of the 29-year-old's passions.

'Passionate about reading'

As per her biography, she spends time indulging in her favourite hobbies like reading, sketching, keeping track of the latest gadgets, and watching Bollywood movies. 

After training, Saina spends time reading books and magazines. She only buys books which catch her eyes, because she does not have a lot of time to spend on reading a book. She also likes to read a lot of comics, and Tom and Jerry is her all-time favourite. She also reads badminton related magazines to keep herself updated with the badminton world. Saina also likes to read yoga and self-help books and likes to solve Sudoku puzzles.

Her love for sketching

Apart from her badminton skills, she has said that she enjoys sketching. During her school days, she represented her school in a national level sketching competition. Saina loves sketching and always carries a sketchbook along with her. Even today, she likes to spend her time sketching. She is a free-spirited artist who lets her imagination run wild while sketching.     

She is a gadget-lover

While speaking to the author for her biography 'Badminton Queen of India Saina Nehwal',  Saina said she could not live without her phone. One of her most favourite gadgets is her iPhone. She also likes other gadgets like Handycam. She uses it to record her travels and game improvements. Saina also loves her iPad, which she uses for playing games like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Sumo Wrestling, Talking Tom, and Tennis. 

She is a die-hard Bollywood fan

Saina is a big fan of Bollywood. She also mentioned that Shah Rukh Khan is her favourite actor. She enjoys watching all the latest Bollywood movies. Her most favourite movie is the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. She is also a big fan of The Kapil Sharma Show. She spends time listening to Bollywood songs.

Some of her other interests include eating chaats and sweets. In an interview, she also mentioned that she has a sweet tooth and likes desserts a lot. Apart from her other hobbies, she also walks the ramp for designers. In a recent interview, she revealed that after her marriage, she has adopted a new hobby which is pranking and troubling her husband, Parupalli Kashyap.
