Kawhi Leonard scored 28 points as the Los Angeles Clippers produced the highest points total of the season against the NBA's leading defence on Sunday.

The Clippers beat the New York Knicks 129-115 at Madison Square Garden and recorded their 10th win in 11 games.

Los Angeles shaded a tight first half 66-65, but powered away in the third quarter and held their hosts at arm's length through the fourth.

Reggie Jackson added 18 points and Paul George had 17 for the Clippers, who made 17 3-pointers and improved to 16-5.

Julius Randle had 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Knicks, with rookie Immanuel Quickley adding 25 points and RJ Barrett 23 as they slipped to 9-12.

The Clippers visit Brooklyn on Tuesday, while the Knicks travel to Chicago on Monday.
