In the final, India B captain Parthiv Patel won the toss and decided to bat first. India B’s innings got off to a shaky start as they lost both their openers for just 28 on the board. Skipper Parthiv Patel was facing Ishan Porel for the final ball of the ninth over when Porel induced a thick outside edge towards the keeper. India C wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik flew across his left to snaffle a brilliant catch to send his counterpart keeper back to the pavilion. Later on in the innings, Karthik grabbed another catch to send Nitish Rana packing.

India B finally recovered as they posted 283-7 in their allotted 50 overs. Indian limited-overs specialist Kedhar Jadhav top-scored the innings with 86 runs. Apart from Priyam Garg’s 74, none of the other India C batsmen could get going in pursuit of the 284-run target. After losing wickets at regular intervals, India C could only muster 232-9 to end up 51-run shy of India B. India B won the match and thus, won the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy. In spite of ending up on the losing side, Dinesh Karthick’s fantastic grab to dismiss Parthiv Patel remains one of the highlights of the match.
