The Bangladeshi batsmen continue to struggle after lunch as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Apart from skipper Mominul Haque and wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, no other batsmen got going during the course of their innings. At one stage, the visitors were reduced to 31-3 before a 68-run partnership between Haque and Rahim provided some solace to the Bangladeshi fans.

Among the Indian bowlers, pacer Mohammed Shami was the wrecker-in-chief with figures of 3-27 in 13 overs. He dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan off successive deliveries to end the second session at 140-7. Ravichandran Ashwin also picked up two crucial wickets, including the prized scalp of Bangladeshi skipper. His first wicket of the day was also his 250th overall on home conditions. He joined the likes of veteran cricketers Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh to become only the third Indian spinner to achieve the milestone.
