Jadeja is India's best fielder, according to fielding coach R Sridhar

India's fielding coach R Sridhar named Ravindra Jadeja as India's best fielder from the last decade; Jadeja is selected for upcoming Tests against Bangladesh

Team India trounced the visiting South Africans 3-0 in the recently-concluded Test series. With the win, India extended their unbeaten home run to 11 series. The Virat Kohli-led Indian team have enjoyed a lot of success in the past few years in all three formats of the game. One of the biggest reasons behind India’s success is the drastic improvement in their fielding standards.

R Sridhar says Jadeja is India’s best fielder

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently extended the contract of Ramakrishnan Sridhar, who has been the fielding coach of the Indian team since August 2014. While speaking with a leading media publication, R Sridhar stated that the perception of Indian fielding has changed in the last few years. He added that these days even our oppositions speak highly about our fielding abilities.

R Sridhar did not hesitate to name his favourite fielder in the Indian line-up. When asked about who is India’s best fielder, Sridhar termed Ravindra Jadeja as the best of the past decade because of his intimidating presence on the field. He went on to praise Jadeja by saying that his presence lifts the team’s spirits and keeps the opposition batsmen on toes at all times.

R Sridhar is a former Indian first-class cricketer for Hyderabad. The former cricketer was also the fielding coach of IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab between 2014 and 2017. During his playing days for Hyderabad, the left-arm bowler picked 91 wickets in 35 First-class games and 14 wickets in 15 List-A matches.

Bangladesh tour of India 2019

Team India will now host Bangladesh for the upcoming Ganguly-Durjoy Test series. Ravindra Jadeja has been selected in India’s 15-man squad against the visitors for the two-Test matches. The first Test will be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
