Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javdekar recounted Indian skipper' Virat Kohli's green initiative from five years ago, as he wished the batting maestro on his birthday. As the ace cricketer turned 31 years on Tuesday, fans and members of the cricketing fraternity flocked to wish Virat Kohli. Remembering Virat Kohli planting a sapling at the Paryavaran Bhavan five years ago, Prakash Javdekar said that the sapling had now become a tree. Virat Kohli has been very vocal in the need to conserve the environment and the need to have a greener future.

Relive Virat Kohli's maiden century

Virat Kohli's first century came against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in December 2009 when he scored 107 runs and formed a formidable partnership with Gautam Gambhir to help India push towards the target of 315 that was set by the away side. The youngster's performance was so good that Gambhir, who received the Man of the Match award for his unbeatable knock of 150, said he handed over the award to Virat Kohli.
