MUST WATCH: Fan almost completes the 'greatest catch in sporting history' in Big Bash League 

The eighth season of Big Bash League (BBL) promised to be the best edition since inception, much due to the bat flip, and it hasn't disappointed so far. Some wonderful batting, excellent bowling and stunning fielding has allowed the tournament be a massive success.

While a number of moments could be singled out as the highlights, one which has stood out so far was witnessed on Sunday. During the 29th match of this edition between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades, a fan joined the action and nearly pulled off the greatest catch in the sporting history.

In the 15th over, Brisbane Heat's Chris Lynn hit a massive six straight down the ground. His effort was brilliant, but what followed was beyond words!

A fan, sitting in the stands, ran from his seat and attempted to catch the ball near the sight screen. He showed great resilience and nearly pulled off a spectacular, but just at the last moment, slipped. Still, it earned him a mention in BBL's official Twitter account.

Earlier in the tournament, Sydney Sixers' Sean Abott hit arguably the biggest six of all time, another headlining moment in this edition of BBL. In the 17th over of the second innings, Abott stepped out of his crease and smashed Fawad Ahmed's delivery out of the ground. He struck it so cleanly that the ball ended up landing in the roof.

Another headlining moment of this season had taken place even before it started. All the talk was about the 'bat flip' instead of 'coin toss' as the tournament broke a 141-year-old tradition. Instead of flipping the coin to decide which team will bat or bowl first, bat was flipped.
