Australian cricketers Glenn Maxwell, Nic Maddison and Will Pucovski recently announced that they will be taking an indefinite break from the game. According to a statement made by Cricket Australia, the cricketers have been experiencing some mental health issues. Initially, Maxwell was due to play the third T20I against Sri Lanka and the subsequent home series against Pakistan. But instead, the 31-year-old decided to step away from the field for a while.

Speaking in support of the Australian all-rounder, Indian skipper Virat Kohli lauded Maxwell to be the first cricketer to come out with the issue openly by saying that the player is setting the right example for cricketers around the world. Kohli described Maxwell’s approach towards the issue as “remarkable” and urged players to ask for a break from the game in similar situations.
