The Qualifier 2 clash between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals had some action-packed moments. However, there were also a few moments that left the viewers spellbound as well. These moments included the 'Dhoni Review System' (DRS) which was taken by MS Dhoni that helped in getting rid of young Prithvi Shaw. The CSK skipper went on to take a stunning catch behind the stumps to dismiss a well-set Shikhar Dhawan who was threatening to take Delhi to a big score. The comical mix-up between the CSK openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis in the very first over of the second innings as the two went for a non-existent single was among the other highlights.  However, there was yet another incident that left everyone stunned and even this one involved Faf du Plessis.

It happened in the penultimate over of Delhi's innings which was bowled by Deepak Chahar. Chahar had picked up the crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant in his previous delivery and Amit Mishra was the new batsman in. On the fifth delivery, the CSK pacer bowled a slower delivery as Mishra slogged his bat and attempted to take him to the cleaners. The shot was perfectly executed, and it looked like Mishra would end up clearing the boundary with ease. Nonetheless, Faf du Plessis, who had already shown some livewire performances on the field, came forward and made an impact once again by running towards his right, timing his dive to perfection and pushing the ball out of the boundary which saved four runs for his side.

CSK won the toss and elected to bat first. The CSK bowlers took wickets at regular intervals as Delhi's innings lost its momentum. Colin Munro scored a 24-ball 27. Rishabh Pant then anchored Delhi's innings with a stellar cameo of a 25-ball 38 which included two boundaries and a maximum at a strike rate of 152. In the end, Ishant Sharma's boundary and a six off Ravindra Jadeja's final over took the Capitals to a respectable total of 147/9 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson added 81 runs for the opening wicket as the rest of the top order batsmen contributed their end to take CSK over the line by six wickets.
