Mumbai Indians did the double over Chennai Super Kings after registering a comprehensive 46-run win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. It was the captain Rohit Sharma who led from the front and played superb knock for Mumbai. The Mumbai Indians skipper not only rediscovered his rhythm but also found his mojo as he made his bat do the talking against the defending champions. He looked in sublime touch as he took the CSK bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and invited Mumbai to bat first. Suresh Raina was once again the stand-in captain as MS Dhoni was unwell. Mumbai lost the wicket of Quinton de Kock early but Rohit continued to keep the scoreboard ticking. He added 75 runs for the second-wicket stand with Evin Lewis. Post Lewis' dismissal, Rohit played a captain's knock and anchored Mumbai' innings. The 'Hitman' looked in good touch and registered his 35th IPL half-century. It was also the Hitman's first half-century of this season.  He played a captain's knock of a 48-ball 67 at a strike rate of 139.58 including six boundaries and three sixes. His entertaining knock helped Mumbai get to a competitive total of 155/4 in their 20 overs. Rohit who has led Mumbai to three IPL titles was adjudged 'Man of the Match' for his spectacular knock. He has now amassed 295 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 131.96.

In reply, CSK's run chase never took off as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Apart from Murali Vijay, Dwayne Bravo and Mitchell Santner, no other batsman could get to double figures. Vijay top-scored for the defending champions with a 35-ball 38 as the hosts were bundled out for just 109.

By the virtue of this win, Mumbai not only did the double over the defending champions but also jumped to the second position in the points table by registering seven wins in 11 games with 14 points.
