World Cup | Injury no bar as Shikhar Dhawan gets to work encouraging the next generation before England tour 

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan had an early exit from the World Cup after suffering an injury between his thumb and index finger, forcing him to be ruled out of the remainder of the World Cup. However, injury worries did not hinder Dhawan's spirit of the game as he took to address the India U-19 squad prior to their departure to England for a one-day Tri-series in England starting July 21, 2019

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan had an early exit from the World Cup after suffering an injury between his thumb and index finger, forcing him to be ruled out of the remainder of the World Cup. However, injury worries did not hinder Dhawan's spirit of the game as he took to address the India U-19 squad prior to their departure to England for a one-day Tri-series in England starting July 21, 2019. 

The left-handed opener attended the training session of the U-19 squad and interacted with them. Taking to Twitter, Dhawan wished the young Men in Blue luck for the tournament. Read his tweet here:     

India will play the U19 sides of hosts England and Bangladesh in the tournament.

The opener provided an injury update earlier, as he shared a picture of himself on social media alongside a swimming pool.

He also tweeted his view on the World Cup final:

During a fixture against Australia on June 9, Dhawan was hit by a Pat Cummins bouncer. However, Dhawan went onto play a match-winning knock of 117 off 109 balls which helped India secure a 36-run win. The left-handed opener suffered an injury between his thumb and the index finger, following which Rishab Pant was called in as the replacement. 

The fiery left-hand opener has played 130 One Day International matches (ODI) scoring 5480 runs, being the most consistent opener for India along with fellow opener Rohit Sharma, with whom he shares a dynamic partnership. 

Dhawan had posted an emotional message via a video for Indian fans after he was ruled out of the tournament. "I'm sure boys (are) doing a great job at the moment and going to do really great and win the World Cup. Keep praying for us and keep supporting us. Your support and prayers are very very important and very dear to us. Thank you all again for all your support and love. Love you all, take care," he said.
