World Cup: Ravi Shastri says he 'thought God was in England's dressing room that day' as goes down Team India's road to the New Zealand semifinal

India has had a remarkable run in the ongoing edition of the World Cup, losing just one game out of eight matches in the group stage, and who else could be more proud of the team than the coach Ravi Shastri.  

Ravi Shastri commended the team for their spectacular performance in the ongoing tournament and said that any team playing at this level of competition must perform at their best. Talking about opener

Rohit Sharma and his newly achieved feat of becoming the player to score most number of centuries in a World Cup edition. Shastri said, " Three double hundreds in one-day internationals, something that i have never seen over the years. He has been consistent at the top and if he chooses a tournament like the World Cup to get that form back, then I'll be more than happy as a coach to accept it."

The Indian coach applauded spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's bowling and recollected the special delivery against South Africa." He has got a great temperament and skills. He attacks the batsmen, looks for wickets and that is the need of the hour", he said.  

Shastri was all praises for pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. Jasprit Bumrah has been in sublime form for the team, spearheading the death bowling and picking up crucial wickets throughout the tournament. All-rounder Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, has evolved as a bowler and now provides team India with a vital pace attack, getting his full quota of ten overs.

"I thought god was in England's dressing room that day. Hope if we play England next, he sits in ours", said the Indian coach, speaking about India's loss to England, the only defeat the side has seen in this tournament. Shastri was of the opinion that the pitch conditions were tough that day and that he hoped the team would do better if they face England in the tournament the next time. 

The former Indian cricketer was very proud of the team and has said that the team has performed consistently around the globe for the past two years and the that it was not just about qualifying for the semi-finals and topping the tournament table.
