Argentina and Uruguay played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Israel on Monday night. Despite having the bulk of the possession, Argentina had to come back twice from behind to secure a draw. Argentina are now unbeaten in six games after their disappointing Copa America and a win against Brazil followed by the draw last night should be a good result for the Albiceleste.

Argentina started the game on the front-foot but fell behind in the 34th minute when Edinson Cavani stabbed home from close range after a nice build-up by Luis Suarez and Lucas Torreira. Sergio Aguero equalised for Argentina in the 63rd minute when he nodded Lionel Messi's free-kick into the net. However, Suarez gave Uruguay the lead again in the 69th when he scored with a powerful 20-metre free-kick that flew past goalkeeper Esteban Andrada into the top corner. But Messi had the last say in the match after he made no mistake from the spot after defender Martin Caceres was penalised for a handball. The match ended at 2-2.

The fixture was the last international for both teams before they begin their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign in March.
