Manchester City strolled into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 win over Southampton at the Etihad Stadium. They still remain on course to win the cup for a third successive time after yet another cruising victory. Meanwhile, Southampton, who entered the fixture after being thrashed 9-0 at home to Leceister, tried stifling City’s attack with a defensive approach but failed to do so.
