Champions League nights are a treat for football fans, aren't they? Goals galore, squad changes, and mid-week football action are the holy trinity for football fans around the world. And with good reason, too. Champions League matchday 3 saw some fantastic goals from the heavyweights in the tournament. Bayern Munich's Corentin Tolisso registered a thunderous long-range strike against Olympiakos. Juventus' Paulo Dybala also netted a delightful curling strike against Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday night. But these long-range gems do not come close to stealing the thunder from Kylian Mbappe and Raheem Sterling's displays in the Champions League.

Mbappe's second-half show

Let's start with Kylian Mbappe. While Real Madrid laboured to a 1-0 win over Galatasaray, Kylian Mbappe was preparing to set Club Brugge's Jan Breydel Stadion alight on Tuesday night. The French star came on for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting on the 52nd minute. But not even Thomas Tuchel could have predicted what was to come. Within nine minutes of getting subbed on, Mbappe netted his first for the night, after heading in Simon Mignolet's parry. Two minutes later, Mbappe set up Icardi to net PSG's third for the night. In the 79th minute, Mbappe raced through Club Brugge's defence and scored another with a tidy finish at the far post. Three minutes later, Angel Di Maria played Mbappe through and the French international duly obliged to complete his hat-trick.

Sterling's blistering hat-trick

Way over in England, in the blue half of Manchester, Raheem Sterling came to the show when Manchester City found themselves down by a goal against Atlanta. Thanks to Sterling and Sergio Aguero, City were down for a small matter of seven minutes, as Sterling's ball found Aguero, who equalised for City. From then on, it was Sterling's day. Four minutes after City's first goal, Sterling ran at the Atlanta defence and was brought down inside the box. Aguero then went on to score the resulting penalty. But Raheem Sterling wasn't done yet. Sterling started the second half with a bang when he slotted in Phil Foden's pass to put City two goals up in the 58th minute. Five minutes later, Sterling once again terrorized Atlanta's defence, as he cut inside to score his second for the night. Five minutes later, Riyad Mahrez turned provider, as he whipped in a cross for Sterling, who slotted it in to secure his fifth career hat-trick for club and country.

It's difficult to pick the better of the two hat-tricks. Mbappe scored his hat-trick against former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. Mbappe also played just over 40 minutes in the game. Sterling, however, completed his hat-trick in just 11 minutes. Who comes out on top?
